Play By: Tom Wlaschiha

[When picking a face for your character, try to keep them within a reasonable limit for the character’s age, and pick someone that you can find images of good quality. All face claims should be of celebrities - no personal faces will be permitted.]

[*]Full Name: Nathaniel Lee Corrigan
[The characters first and last name ; middle name can be included as well if desired]
[*]Affiliation: X-Men
[When choosing affiliation, consider the sort of character you want. A full time thief with no respect for the law isn’t likely to be a heroic member of the X-Men, and a pacifist volunteer might not be very comfortable joining the ranks of the Brotherhood]
[*]Mutant Codename: Fray
[Codenames are typically based around a character’s abilities, though this isn’t always the case. It’s a good chance to get a bit creative, and if you don’t have one that’s okay too. Codenames aren’t a requirement, and can always be added later if desired.]
[*]Nicknames/Aliases: Nate,Thaniel, Lee, Professor Corrigan
[Shortened versions of your characters names or alternate names they go by]

[*]Current Age: 40
[Age should reflect what you want to do with the character, and will also impact their skill level and powers. Remember, teenagers aren’t going to have mastery or full strength of their mutation, and adults will have more history and be expected to be able to function in the world]
[*]Date of Birth: August 28th
[Year is not necessary, but can be included if you wish; just make sure you do the math properly for your character’s age]
[*]Birthplace: Dix, NY
[If you plan for your character to grow up in or be from an area or country that you are not familiar with, be ready to do at least some research on the area to learn what sort of life they would have had there.]
[*]Immediate Family: Catherine Corrigan [Mother, deceased] ; Joseph Corrigan [Father] ; Sasha Corrigan-Ralley [Sister] ; Thomas Ralley [Brother in Law] ; William Ralley [Nephew] ; James Ralley [Nephew]
[Family should always be listed-even if they are dead or estranged, they still existed]
[*]Associates: Adam Pendrake [Friend, Co-Worker]
[These are other people who had an impact on your characters life. If they were mentioned here, then they should probably show up in the history as well]
[*]Occupation: Museum Curator ; History Teacher
[Another point that should fit your characters age. Students aren’t going to have professional full time jobs or those that require a degree, and adults will need to show they have the proper training to justify the job they have.]

[*]Gender: Male
[Self explanatory - what gender does your character identify as? If it doesn’t match up with the one they were born with, that’s perfectly fine, not everyone’s does. Just be ready to explain that in the history]
[*]Orientation: Heteromantic Asexual
[Who your character likes and who they like to sleep with. There are a wide variety of possibilities available]
[*]Pronouns: He, His
[How does your character like being referred to?]
[*]Ethnicity: Caucasian
[*]Religion: Agnostic
[What does your character believe in? There are lots of belief systems available, or none at all if that’s your preference]

[*]Height: 6’3”
[*]Weight: 173 lbs
[*]Eyes: Blue
[*]Hair: Sandy blond

[*]Overall Appearance: Nathaniel is a taller man of a fit build. He keeps his hair relatively short and can often be seen with a smile on his face. He prefers to be well dressed-even when wearing jeans, he makes sure they have no holes or tears in them and are of good quality. He favors a simple style, solid colors without excessive frills or flare. He has a long scar on his right arm from where he got stitches as a teen, and various small scars on his hands.

Nathaniel moves with the confidence of a man comfortable in his own skin. His stride is long and even, and his attention is fixed on what’s ahead of him, be it the road or the person he is speaking with. He maintains good posture even when relaxed, and will very rarely be seen slouching or with his hands shoved into his pockets. He is comfortable remaining still for extended periods, and will often cross his hands behind his back when standing.

[Appearance is where you describe your character. When filling out this section try to go beyond just how their hair is styled, or what clothing they like to wear. How they carry themselves also plays a large part in appearance. If the character has any unusual features such as wings or or horns, it should also be mentioned here. Such things should also have impact in the history as well - very few people are going to ignore obvious mutation, so that sort of thing will impact a character’s life. The image should also reflect such things - if you have trouble with photoshop, just ask for help. There are a couple people around who are good at that sort of thing or can help you figure something out.]

[*]Personality: Nathaniel is a very personable man. He finds it easy to get along with large groups of people and is quick to offer his time or support. He has a knack for remembering details including names, and rarely forgets a face once he’s met someone. He’s quick to introduce himself and strike up a conversation, ready to make friends with those he meets. Even when he dislikes someone, he will do his best to remain civil and show some respect.

When it comes to women, Nathaniel can be a bit of a flirt. He loves to charm and show his appreciation, and is not shy when it comes to physical contact, be it a hand on someone’s shoulder or hug, even kiss on the cheek-provided of course that they are comfortable with that. However that is as far as it will ever go, as he is uninterested in any bedroom activities outside of a good book or movie marathon.

With all his desire to be sociable and please people however, Nathaniel has a tendency to overextend himself. He rarely remembers to rest or stop when he needs to, causing him to become worn down not only physically, but also mentally-and his power doesn’t much help matters. He can become quite rude when exhausted, cutting people off to ask them to stop talking as he can no longer handle listening to it. He doesn’t mean to be unpleasant; it just becomes much harder to maintain a filter and remain friendly when mental function is reduced to a bare minimum. When he angers or upsets someone, he generally does his best to fix the problem as quickly as possible, at times to an annoying degree.

[Personality is where you tell us who your character is. What sort of person they are, how they treat other people. Personalities should be well rounded-remember you’re making a person, not a cardboard cut out! No one is without flaw and that should show. Even the nicest person has limits, and everyone has their bad days. Let us know what those are like too.]

[*]Abilities/Skills: Nathaniel is a novice boxer, and spends at least a couple nights each week working out and practicing at the gym. He also knows basic first aid and is handy with a hammer and screwdriver-just don’t ask him to reprogram a computer. He also has a masters degree in history.

[Abilities and skills should be reasonable. No teenager is going to be a master at mixed martial arts, and even adults are unlikely to speak ten different languages and play several instruments. Learning all those things takes time, so while they are fun to include, remember to be practical as well. Remember, not even canons are perfect and limited to a single emotion all the time.]

[*]Freestyle: Nathaniel collects journals and pens and has a large amount of them scattered around his home. He doesn’t use all of them, he just has a fondness for stationery. Besides, they’re always handy to have in case he or anyone else needs one. He is allergic to chocolate and deathly afraid of fish and will avoid natural (and some man-made) bodies of water to keep away from them.

[If there is something you wish to elaborate further on, or details that don’t really fit into other sections, this is where you would put it. It’s a section to give a little more depth to your character and show just what makes them tick.]

[*]Power Name Here Danger Sense
[*]Basic Description: Nathaniel is able to sense danger within a two mile radius of himself. Though he cannot tell the specific sort of danger until he arrives to see it, he is able to perceive the level of threat that the danger causes.

[*]Pros & Cons: Danger is a fairly broad term. In regards to Nathaniel’s power, it refers to any incident that poses a physical risk to another living person. The danger must be an active one-meaning a patch of ice won’t trigger his power, but a car sliding on the ice will. The more severe the danger, the easier it is for Nathaniel to hone in on it. With minor danger, he will know the general direction it is in, but still have to seek it out while major danger will be as clear to him as an x on a map.

Once he senses danger, Nathaniel is filled with a compulsion to head towards it. The intensity of the compulsion depends on the severity of the danger as well, so while a fender bender might cause him to turn his head, it won’t make him drop everything to head towards it. A burning building with people trapped inside however will, pulling all his focus and attention until the danger is passed. The more severe the danger, the more the compulsion will force Nathaniel to make his way towards the scene and work to resolve it. Unfortunately he has yet to figure out how to turn this power off.

[*]Power Name Here Limitation Removal
[*]Basic Description: Nathaniel’s body is able to ignore the normal physical limitations that most people have. This allows him to perform seemingly superhuman feats, as well as continuing to function long after he should have stopped.

[*]Pros & Cons: On the surface, this power is very useful to have. Thanks to it, Nathaniel is able to push himself and continue to be effective far longer than most. He is not slowed down by pain or exhaustion and can do things normally reserved for extreme adrenaline bursts or those with increased strength, such as lifting a small car off a person. While he still can’t compete with those with actual super strength, he is capable of more than the average man thanks to his power and can lift nearly a thousand pounds for a short period of time. It also keeps him from feeling the effects of hunger or the need to sleep.

However, while Nathaniel can ignore all the signs of physical duress to his body, that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. His power doesn’t give him any form of super invulnerability or strength-rather it merely prevents his body from being aware of any damage or pain being caused. Injuries are easily ignored, and muscle or even skeletal strain don’t register to his brain, allowing him to continue functioning as though they are not happening. This risks him increasing injury or even pushing himself to near deadly limits simply because he is unaware of what has happened to him. His body cannot function if too much damage is done, no matter how hard he tries; a broken leg will not support him on a long run and if he pushes himself too far or is too exhausted, he will black out.

Fortunately, this power is not always active, at least not to its full degree. When in a safe location and not being drawn to a high degree of danger, he is able to feel pain and the limits of the human body by roughly a third of what a normal person would. This means he is able to feel pain and tiredness, though is far less aware of it. The closer he moves to danger, the more that sensation decreases until he loses his awareness of his physical limits all together.

[Powers! The whole reason to play a mutant right? Well, not entirely. Powers are important, but they are not the defining point of a character. After all, you’re playing a character who happens to have super powers, not a random power that exists only when being used. There’s a lot more to a character than just their super ability, so don’t think they have to have the flashiest or strongest power just to be interesting.

That said, there are some specifics when it comes to powers. First is to remember that every power has a weakness or downside. No power is unstoppable; it wouldn’t be any fun if no one could be beaten. Another thing to keep in mind is powers must have reasonable limits. Sadly not everyone can be the next Magneto or Xavier. Even powerful canons need limits to keep them from being so powerful they break the board. Besides, figuring out how a character works with their weaknesses can be a lot of fun. Age and amount of training also factor into power strength and control. Someone new to their power isn’t going to be all that powerful, and even if someone has been a mutant for the past decade, their control is going to be terrible if they haven’t taken the time to train, a lot.

Finally, don’t be afraid to include some detail. So your character can shoot flames from their hands-neat! How far can they throw the fire? Can they control the temperature of the fire? Are they immune to the heat of the fire on their hands only, or is their whole body resistant to fire? Those are the sorts of things to consider when creating powers.]

[*]Character History
Nathaniel was the second child born to Catherine and Joseph Corrigan. His older sister was four at the time, and though she was not overly thrilled to have a new baby in the house at first, she quickly warmed up to her younger brother. Catherine returned to work a couple months after Nathaniel was born, and though the kids didn’t see nearly as much of their parents as they would have liked due to both having jobs, it was still a happy family. Joseph worked as a contractor, and Catherine worked part time as a chef, and between the two of them they made enough money that the family lived in relative comfort.

As he grew older, Nathaniel proved to be a friendly and sociable boy. He was quick to make friends and always eager to play with other people. He spent a lot of time with his sister too, at least until she reached the age when hanging out with her baby brother was no longer cool. He did relatively well in school and had little drama in his young life.

That changed shortly after he began high school. It wasn’t that he tried to act out or anything. But Nathaniel found himself more and more often walking straight into trouble, and getting tangled up in it; especially fights. He insisted he hadn’t started them or even planned to get involved, it just happened and his friends backed him on that. Even so, he was suspended several times during his freshman year, and told if he got involved in any fights during his sophomore year that he would likely be expelled. Doing so turned out to be much harder than he thought. Somehow when something bad was going on at the school he always seemed to end up finding it, even when it was nowhere near where he needed to be. There were quite a few near misses and times his friends jumped in to cover for him so he wouldn’t be caught having gotten involved in another fight but somehow, he made it through the next two years, making sure to do well in his classes from math to shop class to try and avoid negative attention from the teachers.

Near the end of his senior year, he started to suspect something more might be going on. He was at the store grabbing a few snacks for the weekend when he suddenly turned and made his way outside. He didn’t know why, he just knew he had to go there, just as he’d needed to be where all those fights had taken place. He arrived in time to see a car wrap itself around a pole, and without hesitating went over and tried to open the door to check on the driver. When that didn’t work, he moved to the passenger’s side door and put his fist through the glass, reaching in to unlock the vehicle and gain access, only to find the driver wasn’t breathing. With help, Nathaniel was able to get them from the car. A school nurse who had been shopping administered CPR as the paramedics were called, and at last Nathaniel no longer felt a need to be there.

When the ambulance arrived, he was surprised when they asked him to come along, not as a witness to the accident, but to have his arm stitched up. He looked down, only then realizing his arm had been steadily dripping blood since he’d gouged it on the window. He went to the hospital to get it taken care of, mentioning the lack of pain to the doctor. The doctor said it must have been shock, and it would hurt like hell later. Only it didn’t. Oh it stung a little but hardly more than a small bruise.

That was the first incident. The next was far less dramatic, but helped him finally realize he couldn’t feel the same as others did. It was just a papercut while flipping through his textbook. He only realized it happened when blood started appearing on the pages. The normal sting that came with such an injury wasn’t there though, just a faint soreness. Deciding to test it, he deliberately slid his finger across the edge of the page to create another, tensing at the expected pain-only it didn’t come. Just a faint discomfort. He decided against telling anyone. It wasn’t a big deal; so he couldn’t feel pain that well, who cared? He felt fine otherwise. As for the other thing, that need to go places where it always turned out something bad was happening...well that was harder to write off. But if he could just ignore it, maybe it would go away.

It didn’t go away. He graduated high school and made his way to college right after having been accepted to one a few hours from his home. Far enough to be independent but not so far that he couldn’t stop by and say hey to his family on occasion (or to pick up some proper home cooking). He did his best to focus on school, majoring in history and trying to just enjoy the college life. By his second year, he had mostly gotten the hang of it. Go to class, write papers, party with friends, cheer for whatever sports were happening and celebrate each victory loudly. Sure there were occasional incidents that he couldn’t explain, like how he knew where to find the people who were way too drunk to drive and give them a lift, or which room at the frat house to go into and disrupt someone a little too eager to try scoring with their barely conscious girlfriend, but it was just dumb luck. It had to be.

His roommate was the one to suggest something more might be going on. Adam was a fellow history major, and had seen Nathaniel stop dead in his tracks and change direction multiple times, only to follow and see his friend in the middle of some sort of trouble. Not to mention the fact that Nathaniel seemed to be able to do things most people couldn’t. Like that time he’d caught the weight before it fell on the football player’s head because it wasn’t set back properly like it was nothing, or how he always seemed to know where trouble was-not to mention he rarely seemed to need to sleep. So sure it was a little crazy, but maybe, he suggested, Nathaniel was a bit like Superman-only not as cool because he couldn’t fly and didn’t have heat vision. But he clearly had some sort of power. At first Nathaniel told Adam he was crazy. But when Adam reached up and pulled a book from thin air, he started to think maybe, his roommate had a point.

And so a new routine was added to their days. In the evening after school was dealt with and if there were no important social activities to attend, they set out to test just what they could do. As time went on, they got better at figuring out what was happening and how to handle their unique abilities. It wasn’t always easy, and there were a few incidents that almost went too far and landed them in the hospital. Nathaniel took up boxing to learn to fight better, and continued it as he enjoyed the sport. Not enough to pursue it to any professional degree, but enough to be relatively good at it. Eventually they graduated college and were ready to join the real world as productive members of society and part time heroes.

They were able to get a job at a museum together. It was nothing spectacular, mostly paperwork, but it was decent enough. After a couple of years, Nathaniel returned to school to work on his masters degree, Adam doing the same in the following year. The two still kept up with their routine, Nathaniel figuring out where trouble was and the two of them going to deal with it. It was challenging sometimes. There were more demands to life at that point and they didn’t have the same amount of time to patrol the streets. Adam eventually got married, with Nathaniel serving as his best man at the wedding and began to spend less time seeking to keep playing hero and instead focusing on a more academic career. Though they didn’t have their patrols anymore, the two remained close friends.

Nathaniel managed to finish his masters degree and once again set out to join the world. For the next few years, he worked for various museums and collections, travelling around the world to assess and purchase artifacts. He enjoyed the chance to see the world, and often sent back small gifts to his two nephews to try and give them a taste of the world. It was harder while travelling to seek out trouble and stop it, but he continued when he could. He couldn’t help it - he still felt an irresistible urge to head into danger.

After working as a collector for a few years, Nathaniel finally decided to take up position at a museum once more and settle into a house of his own. He worked his way up until he became the curator of the museum, a job which he greatly enjoyed. He loved seeing people come to the museum and the fascination in their eyes as they took in the history that it held.

It was while working at the museum that Nathaniel finally heard the term mutant. It was a proper answer at last to a long unspoken question, and he felt a sense of relief at that. The relief was diminished in watching the world react to the idea of mutants, some good, some bad. He decided to keep the idea of being a mutant to himself for the most part, telling only his older sister. Fortunately, though she was angry with him for keeping it a secret so long and taking such risks, she ultimately accepted her brother as he was.

Then at last a new career option opened up. An job offer from a private school a couple hours from New York City arrived in his mailbox one day. The school it seemed was looking for a history teacher. Though he loved his museum, the opportunity to teach young people about history in a more direct way appealed to him and so he accepted. He put in his notice at the museum and set off for the Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters outside of Salem Center. Being a teacher would be a good new job, and though he didn’t know it then, the chance to help people alongside a tried and tested team of heroes would make it all the better.

[History is where you tie everything together. This is the background of your character, where they came from, what shaped them. It doesn’t need to be this long-only five paragraphs are required, but more is always acceptable. Remember, the older a character is, the more history they have, and while you don’t have to write a detailed account of each year of their life, it’s best not to make major jumps, like starting middle school and then skipping everything up to them joining whatever affiliation you want them to be part of.

The history should include all the important elements, like a bit of information on various points of their life, major events, and mention of things they’ve learned that are relevant to them (such as things mentioned in skills). It doesn’t need to always be a lengthy explanation of how they learned something-sometimes just a mention that they learned it is fine. For mutant characters, there should be some detail on their powers, like how they were discovered and how the character dealt with them, if at all. If the character is meant to be part of an affiliation, the end of the history is a good place to set that up, though it’s not necessary if you want your character recruited in game. Just make sure if you do have them recruited, you speak to the players of any characters you want to specifically mention in your history before doing so, to make sure it’s okay with them. If you want your character to be in the X-Men or Brotherhood but are unsure of how to do so, just contact Til for the X-Men, and Scottie for the Brotherhood, and they’ll give you some ideas of how to do that.

And there you have it! It may seem like a lot but it’s far less than it seems when you get down to it. Much of the app should tie together to make the character coherent and fully explained. Good luck, and if you have any questions, just ask any member of staff-we’re all happy to help.]

I am looking for someone who might be interested in playing either the father or older brother to one of my characters.

<div class="reqwrap">

<div class="reqbox reqimg">
<img src="">

<div class="reqbox">
<h1>Nikolas Cross</h1>
My courage was never brave enough and my hunger never gave enough</h2>
<div class="reqinfo">
<h3>18-20 <b>+</b> Joe Keery<b>+</b> Brother</h3>
<p>First is Nikolas Cross, He should be 18-20 years old, and can be a mutant or human. He is the older brother of my character, T.K Cross. In my head, the siblings were close, and spent a lot of time together. Their home life was not ideal, due to parents that spent far more time being high than actually taking care of their kids, which resulted in Nikolas having to grow up relatively fast. He was far more aware than she was of the problems in their family, and helped keep his younger sister safe from learning the truth. Eventually though, the stress of that life was too much, and he took off before turning 18, when his sister was 9 years old.
<p>The history of what he's been doing since is open. My hope is for him to come to NYC and be able to reconnect with T.K. While she is unaffiliated, Nikolas can belong to any faction. Suggested face claims for him are Joe Keery or Landon Liboiron; however if you have someone else you prefer to use, that is also acceptable.

<div class="reqbox">
<h1>Harrison Cross</h1>
<h2>And my abandonment never saved enough to start again</h2>
<div class="reqinfo">
<h3>38-46<b>+</b> Norman Reedus<b>+</b> Father</h3>
<p>The next request Harrison Cross, father to T.K and Nikolas. He can be anywhere from 38-46 years old and his suggested face claim is Norman Reedus, though other faces can be used if preferred. Like Nikolas, he can be human or mutant.
<p>As mentioned above, Harrison was not the ideal father. He married a woman named Andrea Talbot, and the two enjoyed a life of pleasure, parties, and of course, drug use, provided by Harrison's brother, Gregory. Even after having kids, Harrison continued this lifestyle, more interested in his own enjoyment than earning anything close to parent of the year. Then, when T.K's powers emerged, he gave her to his brother to work for him, in order to pay the debt he and Andrea owed for their excessive drug use.
<p>In the years since, I like to imagine that Harrison has started to clean up his act. He can still be with his wife, or separated from her, but I would like to see him at least starting to come to the realization that he wasn't a good father and wanting to change that. In the recent board history, Gregory was killed by Wolverine, which could also be something that influences Harrison's actions.

Powers for both of these characters are open, if you choose to go the mutant route. If you want ideas however, for either, I offer the following:

Bone Dancer : Ability to animate skeletal structures, if enough is available. Living creatures would not be affected, only the dead skeleton of creatures.

Only a day before, the park had been a seen of a less than pleasant scene, for mutants at least. The nightmare known as Sentinels had been unveiled, and while that had gone in a direction that could best be described as a mild clusterfuck, the city and park within continued on as normal. Sure the topic was still on the minds of many but it was yesterday's news. This was New York City, there were new and brighter things ahead.

A small group had decided this was definitely the case, and for one a very literal matter. And so they had gone to the park to give people a little reminder that yes, mutants were in the city. Some made it their home and some were passing through. But the name of the game was not terror, not on this day. Instead the four mutants were there to put on a show, a way to entertain the crowds and show them that there were mutants who did not have the end of humanity in their sights. The proper permits had been obtained of course, and it was time for the show to begin.

There was no announcement for the show. They didn't need one; once they started, it would be obvious enough. As the two identical young men walked a short distance away from each other, one of the girl's walked forward, and placed her hand like she was climbing and then, jumped into the air and remained there, the air beneath her forming a faint fog. She turned back and pulled the other woman up with her, as the males placed a set of speakers and within moments music began slowly play.

More and more people began to pay attention to the two ladies standing on solid air and the men who were moving eerily in synch with one another. A moment later, the group became much harder for any to avoid. The second woman's eyes glowed like mismatched headlights and with a gleeful shout, she extended her hand to the sky. A burst of light went skyward , a rainbow spiraling high above to let people near and far know something was going on. The music increased in tempo and volume, a rapid beat that demanded movement, and that was just what the group did. The twins moved, each a perfect mirror of the other as lights swirled around forming impressions of dancers as the two women moved along patches of sky that despite being air, held firm under the power of the one in a joyous celebration of music and mutation.
